Office 2007 SP2 Coming this Month

Microsoft has announced that Service Pack 2 for Office 2007 will be released this month. The update will be available via the Windows update tool and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for corporate users.

Among the improvements SP2 will add is the ability to save as ODF (Open Document Format) and PDF.

WSUS Product Team Blog posted a blog post with a little information on Office 2007 SP2:

Service Pack 2 for the 2007 Office System will be made available in April. Service Pack 2 includes some significant work, including: built-in ability to save as ODF and PDF formats, improvements to Outlook’s performance and calendar reliability, significant bug fixes for charts in core Office applications, the ability for client service packs to be removed using an uninstall tool, and a host of customer-requested improvements to the Office Server products. It is also a rollup of all fixes that have previously been released for Office 2007 products.

Windows 7 Beta leaked on bittorrent

The Windows 7 Beta 1 (Build 7000) that was public-bound in mid-January has been leaked on BitTorrent.

The beta expires July 1, 2009, and is supposedly more stable than other Windows 7 betas.

This beta is of excellent quality. This is the kind of code that you could roll out and live with. Even the pre-betas were solid, but finally this beta feels like it’s “done.” This beta exceeds the quality of any other Microsoft OS beta that I’ve handled.

The unlocked G1 looks pretty slick, with a dark steel gray case and a pattern on the back side. The phone will be available for developers in United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, India, Canada, France, Taiwan, Spain, Australia, Singapore, Switzerland, Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Poland and Hungary.

For now developers can only get one phone per account to prevent the phones from entering consumer market.

Videora iPod Converter review

A while ago I was looking for a way to convert my videos so that I could play them on my iPod, mp4 format.

It was a struggle to find a free converter but eventually I did. I found Videora iPod Converter.

Videora iPod Converter is a free iPod video converter that converts video files, YouTube videos, movies and DVD’s so you can play them on your iPod.

Every step in the conversion progress is extremely simple and there are instructions too.

All I can say is that Videora is simple, it works and it’s free!

Revo Uninstaller review

I’ve always hated the default Add/Remove application in Windows. It’s so sluggish and slow. But I’ve never though about just getting a new Uninstalling application until recently. I decided to install Revo Uninstaller.

As soon as I opened up Revo Uninstaller I liked it, it was so fast to load all my installed programs.

It is possible to change the view to List or Details. Right clicking on a program gives user more information, like search Google for program, update program or the install location.

All went well when I uninstalled a program. I got to choose the uninstalling mode and then the program got to work, uninstalling the program.

When the program was uninstalled I got the option to delete leftovers from the program, something that the default Add/Remove application in Windows doesn’t let you do.

Overall this is a fantastic application and much better than the default Add/Remove application in Windows. With this free program you will uninstall programs faster and have fun doing it! 5/5

My favourite free software

Here is a list of my favourite free software that I use all the time:

7-Zip

7-Zip is a open source file archiver, and it’s free unlike WinZip and WinRAR

AVG Free

AVG Free is by far the best virus protection I’ve ever used
