In-Game Advertising

I have seen a lot of in-game advertising lately, like in Need for Speed: Pro Street and it is in all kinds of games, PC to mobile phones.
Some estimate that sales of in-game advertising will be around $1.8bn in 2010. In-game advertising could even amount to 10-22% of the game manufacturer’s income on every sold game. These extra incomes are good for game companies because of rising manufacturing costs and bigger and better games.
There are two types of in-game advertising, direct advertising, like billboards in games, and indirect advertising, where the player uses real brands in games.
The products that appear in computer games can grow substantially as a brand.
Because of games like GTA and Counter-Strike most people know the difference between AK47 and M4 Carbine rifles. It’s the same with the cars. Many kids that don’t have driver license only want a specific car, like BMW or Mercedes Benz, because they have been test driving them for hours on games like Project Gotham Racing or Gran Tourismo.
